Saturday we ventured out to our favorite forest local tree lot and found a beauty. Kris didn't come along this year, he has been rather Grinch-y about it the past years so we just let him sleep in.
After getting the lights and the larger ornaments arranged Sunday evening Keven went to get him to come and look at the tree. Kris was so happy! Coming down the stairs he stopped and pointed to the right side of the tree. "Need more on that side." He has his mother's eye for balance.
When I told him that we had just started putting the ornaments on, and would finish Monday night he decided it was alright. He then began to talk about how much Mom liked to put her Chihuahua ornaments on their tree. And the Scooby Doo ornaments. It took me a minute to realize he was talking about the ones that he has gotten since living here, and was remembering them. This made me so happy! He hasn't shown that much interest in our tradition of getting a new ornament each year, but he obviously remembered his!
Tonight we added more ornaments, and now only await Sonja, Tanja & Brad's arrival so they can put theirs up. When I handed Kris the box with his ornaments he grinned from ear to ear. The first one he hung was Chia, and then Scooby Doo and Santa. Elvis, who came with him from Portland, 2 Star Trek ornaments, and another from Portland found perfect places on the tree, and Kris went back to watch his wrestling in a very Christmas-y mood. No Grinch at our house tonight!

I don't think it will be a hit with Avery.
Today's plan: Gifts wrapped and under the tree.
I don't know how Kris will be able to contain himself after that.
